30 Day Film Challenge
Day 4 - Your Favourite Sci-Fi Film
I feel like a lot of you guys are expecting me to say Star Wars. But you know what? No. NO! I will not conform. I am not a sheep! Also, as much as I like Star Wars, I don’t like it nearly as much as …
STAR TREK 6 (THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY)
I mean, you’ve got Bill and Leonard and the guy that plays Bones. Scottie and Chekov and OH, WHAT’S THIS? A surprise turn by KIM CATTRALL? As a Vulcan cadet fresh out of the academy? And what did you say? CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER? As a Klingon? Quoting Shakespeare whilst kicking ass? Like, let’s toss Red from That 70s Show into the mix as the president of earth and add a dose of Lovejoy from Titanic for a joke as well. (“Okay!” says the director.) And after that, about 30 minutes of straight Iman. SURE, WHY NOT. See what we have here? A fucking all-star cast.
I was obsessed with this movie as a kid, and it’s basically the only Star Trek movie I still really care about. It’s also got a million parallels with the end of the Cold War, and as someone that only tried during history class during school, I will say that this whole movie just gets a big fat A+ for being the best.
THE BEST.
